TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE SERVER OR ANY OTHER PROXY SERVER WORK FOR WINDOWS 10, 8.1, 8 METRO APPLICATIONS(E.G WINDOWS STORE)

Today, we’ll discuss how to enable or configure Proxy Server for Metro applications in Windows 8. By default we can setup Proxy for Internet Explorer, but for some reason it’s not working correctly for Metro application. When I tried it initially, I received the following error: Your PC isn’t connected to the Internet. To use the Store, connect to the Internet and then try again.

After searching online for a while I found some working methods. One is to use the Netsh command and import proxy settings from Internet Explorer to WinHTTP and the other is tomanually configure the Proxy settings the same way as in Windows 7, in the registry or viaGroup Policy settings. You can try any of the 3 methods.

SCIENCE DAILY: MAMMAL DIVERSITY EXPLODED IMMEDIATELY AFTER DINOSAUR EXTINCTION

The diversity of mammals on Earth exploded straight after the dinosaur extinction event, according to UCL researchers. New analysis of the fossil record shows that placental mammals, the group that today includes nearly 5000 species including humans, became more varied in anatomy during the Paleocene epoch -- the 10 million years immediately following the event.

SCIENCE DELIGHT: BLACK HOLES COULD GROW AS LARGE AS 50 BILLION SUNS BEFORE THEIR FOOD CRUMBLES INTO STARS, RESEARCH SHOWS

This artist's concept illustrates a supermassive black hole with millions to billions times the mass of our sun.

Black holes at the heart of galaxies could swell to 50 billion times the mass of the sun before losing the discs of gas they rely on to sustain themselves, according to research at the University of Leicester.

NEW RESEARCH: COMPUTING WITH TIME TRAVEL

If the universe allows 'open timelike curves', particles travelling back in time along them could help to perform currently intractable computations. Even though such curves don't allow for interaction with anything in the past, researchers writing in npj Quantum Information show there is a gain computational power as long as the time-travelling particle is entangled with one kept in the present.

Why send a message back in time, but lock it so that no one can ever read the contents? Because it may be the key to solving currently intractable problems. That's the claim of an international collaboration who have just published a paper in npj Quantum Information.

NEW DISCOVERY: NASA TELESCOPES DETECT JUPITER-LIKE STORM ON SMALL STAR

This illustration shows a cool star, called W1906+40, marked by a raging storm near one of its poles. The storm is thought to be similar to the Great Red Spot on Jupiter. Scientists discovered it using NASA's Kepler and Spitzer space telescopes.

Astronomers have discovered what appears to be a tiny star with a giant, cloudy storm, using data from NASA's Spitzer and Kepler space telescopes. The dark storm is akin to Jupiter's Great Red Spot: a persistent, raging storm larger than Earth.

SCIENCE DAILY: DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FACIAL GROWTH OF NEANDERTHALS AND MODERN HUMANS

Growth directions of the maxilla in the Sima de los Huesos (SH) and Neanderthals compared to modern humans. This impacts facial growth in at least two ways. (i) Extensive bone deposits over the maxilla in the fossils are consistent with a strong forward growth component (purple arrows); whereas resorption in the modern human face attenuates forward displacement (blue arrow). (ii) Deposition combined with larger developing nasal cavities in the fossils displaces the dentition forward generating the retromolar space characteristic of Neanderthals and also in some SH fossils.

An international research team, led by Rodrigo Lacruz, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Basic Science and Craniofacial Biology at New York University's College of Dentistry (NYUCD), has just published a study describing for the first time the developmental processes that differentiate Neanderthal facial skeletons from those of modern humans.

SCIENCE: ACCESS TO THE INTERNET MAKES US LESS WILLING TO SAY WE KNOW THINGS

In some contexts, the people in this study with access to the Internet reported feeling as though they knew less compared to the people without access.

People are less willing to rely on their knowledge and say they know something when they have access to the Internet, suggesting that our connection to the web is affecting how we think.

In a new study, researchers administered an antidepressant called mianserin to Caenorhabditis elegans, a type of roundworm used frequently in research. In 2007, they discovered that the drug increases the lifespan of roundworms by 30-40 per cent. Their new goal was to investigate how.
